A range of information sessions and programs exist to support you in building your understanding of the VAPA.
VAPA Information session (online)
This 1-hour session will provide information about the Victorian Aspiring Principal Assessment (VAPA) and how it assesses readiness for the principal role.
You will leave with a clearer understanding of how the VAPA supports your professional development through formative and actionable feedback designed to enhance your professional capability.
Finally, you will gain a clearer understanding of the implementation of the VAPA as a requirement for first-time and past principals.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.
Audience
Designed for leaders across the educational system who are aspiring for a principalship position in a Victorian government school. Participants may or may not be registered for the VAPA before attending this session.
VAPA Portfolio Information session
This 1 hour session will take a focused look at the VAPA portfolio, a primary method of assessment within the VAPA.
You will leave the session with broad understanding of the construct of and components within the portfolio, including consideration of the ‘Rules of Evidence’.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.

Designed for leaders across the educational system who are aspiring for a principalship position in a Victorian government school. Participants may or may not be registered for the VAPA before attending this session.
VAPA Portfolio Preparation Program
This all day, face-to-face workshop will enable participants with a deep understanding of the portfolio, a primary method of assessment within the VAPA. Linked to five Professional Practice Areas, the development of the VAPA portfolio provides you with the chance to reflect on your leadership practice, document your experience and link your achievements to the AITSL principal standards.
As a participant in this program, you will receive insights from VAPA experts to gain a deeper understanding of the portfolio's structure and components, as well as guidance on adhering to the 'Rules of Evidence'. You will have the chance to initiate the drafting of your Leadership Initiative File, which form the basis of your portfolio, and engage in collaborative work with your peers and facilitators across the day.
Ample time will be allocated for questions and clarification during the program, ensuring that you depart equipped with all the necessary information to confidently advance the development of your VAPA Portfolio.
Audience
Designed for leaders across the educational system who are aspiring for a principalship position in a Victorian government school. It is suggested that participants either register for the VAPA or apply for the assessment via the portal prior to attending the session, though it is not a pre-requisite.
