    The Teaching Impact Fellowship (TIF) offers graduates of the Teaching Excellence Program (TEP) a unique professional learning pathway to lead evidence-informed change in their school.

    Apply for a Teaching Impact Fellowship

    As a TIF Fellow, you receive a package of support designed to elevate your professional practice and leadership capabilities:

    • Project funding: secure funding to design, develop, and run a high-impact project tailored to your school's unique context.
    • Expert professional learning: gain access to ongoing, targeted professional development through a mix of immersive in-person and flexible online sessions.
    • Peer-to-Peer connections: build a powerful network by collaborating with other highly skilled and like-minded teachers across Victoria to share expertise and foster a community of practice.
    • Dedicated 1:1 support: receive personalised guidance and mentorship from a dedicated advisor who will support you throughout your project journey.

    The Teaching Impact Fellowship is more than just a program; it's a commitment to enhancing the pedagogical expertise of Victoria's top teachers and raising the quality and status of the teaching profession statewide.

    Eligibility  

    To be eligible for a Teaching Impact Fellowship, you must have:

    • graduated or be on track to graduate from the Teaching Excellence Program or be a former Expert Teacher in Residence (previously known as Master Teacher)
    • principal endorsement and ongoing support
    • full teacher registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
    • a teaching role at the same Victorian school (full-time or part-time) at the time of the application and throughout the fellowship
    • not previously received an Academy fellowship.

    Structure of program

    Professional learning

    Three full-day onsite workshops designed to provide a strong foundation to pursue your impact project:

    • These foundation days will take place in Term 1 and 2 in Melbourne.
    • Teacher fellows are expected to attend all foundation days.

    Fellowship Learning Communities

    You will participate in three 3-hour online Fellowship Learning Communities, building relationships with other fellows and:

    • share ideas
    • learn from each other
    • support each other’s professional growth.

    You will also have access to direct support and :

    • be guided and supported by a fellowship advisor with 4 online sessions
    • be assisted to engage in critical reflective practice and offered feedback to strengthen your project.

    Learning outcomes

    By undertaking the Teaching Impact Fellowship, you will:

    • define a vision of excellent teaching in the context of your classroom and school, informed by a critical examination of evidence-based teaching and learning principles
    • synthesise knowledge and evidence to design and implement an impact project that addresses an identified need or challenge within your school
    • identify and monitor indicators to demonstrate progress and impact, showcasing the outcomes of your project
    • enact and critically examine the values, principles and practices of leadership that enable meaningful improvement in teaching and learning
    • develop a plan to synthesise, communicate and share your learning within your school and with other Victorian educators.

    Completion requirements

    To successfully complete a Teaching Impact Fellowship, you must:

    • attend and actively contribute to the 3 foundation days
    • attend and actively contribute in the 3 online Fellowship Learning Communities
    • engage and collaborate with your fellowship advisor
    • lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of an impact project at your school
    • maintain a reflective practice journal that includes a series of tasks documenting your learning and professional growth
    • complete and submit 4 learning tasks in line with program requirements
    • present and share your impact project journey and outcomes
    • acquit fellowship funding using provided templates.

    Application details

    Fees and financial support

    Your school will receive $5,000 to support the design and implementation of your impact project.

    Eligible schools may receive supplementary funding to support teacher release time, as well as travel and accommodation to fellowship activities.

    How to apply

    To complete a TIF application, applicants must:

    1. Click the apply button available on this page
    2. Start the process by providing personal details via the Academy’s website. Applicants will then receive a confirmation email with a link to the Academy’s online application platform
    3. Complete the online application.

    After teachers have submitted their application, their principal will receive an email asking them to endorse their application. Applicants must factor in the time it will take their principal to endorse their application. It is recommended that applicants submit their applications at least a few days before applications close.

    Applications close on Monday 13 October 2025.

    TIF is an innovative professional learning program designed to empower Victorian teachers as leaders of change.  Since 2023, the program has enabled teachers across Victoria and Government, Catholic, and Independent sectors, to deepen their pedagogical expertise and drive evidence-informed school improvement.

    Underpinned by The Academy Fellowships Model, the program focuses on two key pillars:

    1. deepening a teacher's professional expertise, and
    2. nurturing a teacher's capability to drive evidence-informed school improvement.
