Our state-of-the-art learning spaces are available for hire.
East Melbourne learning space

Our state-of-the-art learning spaces are available for hire when they are not being used in the delivery of Academy professional learning. They are available to Department of Education (department) staff, community groups, and businesses.
Our spaces are ideal for meetings, workshops, conferences, and lectures. We also have open areas for standing events and large outdoor spaces available for informal events. 

Hire a learning space

All spaces are wheelchair accessible and have a variety of technology available for your use including whiteboards, projection screens, video conferencing and Wi-Fi access.

North Melbourne

603 Queensberry Street 

Originally designed by Henry Bastow – one of Victoria’s foremost architects of civil and public buildings – as State School No. 307 in the 1880s our 603 Queensberry Street building was meticulously restored and redeveloped in 2012. For Department use only, we also have spaces at our 582 Queensberry St building nearby.

East Melbourne

41 St Andrews Place

Originally built in the 1850s as the Victorian Government Printing Office, the interior of the heritage-listed building has been sensitively modified and the exterior restored to create inspiring professional learning facilities.

Bairnsdale

179 Main Street

Located in the heart of Bairnsdale, gateway to the Gippsland Lakes, our Bairnsdale site offers two learning studios that can accommodate a range of presentation styles, a design thinking space, and a remote learning studio. This renovated centre offers state-of-the-art facilities and a modern interior.

Ballarat

36 Camp Street

Located in the historic central business district of Ballarat, the late twentieth-century building has previously been used by both the Technical and Further Education (TAFE) system and by the Victorian Department of Education. The space comprises a learning studio, a design thinking space and 4 remote learning studios.

Bendigo

Level 1, 360 Hargreaves Street

Located in the heart of Bendigo, on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung People, Academy Bendigo has recently relocated to a purpose-designed state-of-the-art centre. Academy Bendigo offers rural and regional teachers and school leaders the opportunity to access high-quality professional learning and comprises of multi-purpose learning studios, a design thinking space, and meeting rooms. 

Geelong

5A Little Ryrie Street

A mid-century building that has previously been used by the Department of Education as a regional office, the Academy’s Geelong centre has been immaculately restored to create an environment conducive to high-quality and immersive professional learning in the southwest. The building's state-of-the-art facilities include large learning spaces across and multiple smaller remote studios for hybrid sessions.

Moe

32 Kirk Street

Located in the central business district of Moe, the Academy’s Moe centre has had several lives, including as a community facility – the Frank Bartlett Memorial Library previously operated by the Latrobe City Council. The newly renovated space includes two multi-purpose learning studios, a design thinking space and three remote learning studios.

Mildura

97 Seventh Street

Located opposite the Murray River, the Mildura Academy offers two learning studios that can accommodate both cabaret and theatre style presentations, a design thinking space and two remote learning studios. The recently renovated centre provide state-of-the art facilities and a modern interior.

Shepparton 

17 Sobraon Street

Located in close proximity to the Victoria Park Lake and just a short walk to the central business district, our Shepparton site is situated in the former Centrelink building. The newly renovated space comprises of two multi-purpose learning studios, a design thinking space and two meeting rooms.
 

How to book

Our learning space hire is a not-for-profit service.  and the rates cover staff, administrative and maintenance costs. We offer subsidised rates to community groups and department staff.

Spaces can be hired for a half or full-day, Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Depending on your event requirements, you may need to pay for:

  • technical support including audio-visual and video conferencing set-up and monitoring
  • catering requirements.
