Principal Mentoring
Expand and enhance your leadership capability with the support of a mentor.
Principal Mentoring provides you with support from a trusted former Victorian government school principal with first-hand experience and an understanding of the exciting, unique and challenging aspects of the role.
You’ll be matched with a mentor according to your learning needs and the context of your school setting. The mentoring experience involves shaping your own outcomes with advice, guidance and informed opinions of your mentor on a range of aspects.
Mentors use their own experiences to articulate how you can deal with situations and provide advice and guidance on how to proceed.
Audience
Designed for Victorian government school principals and acting principals at any stage of their career.

Facilitators
Mentors for Principal Mentoring are highly skilled, retired principals specifically trained to support the program.
Mentors have expertise in a range of areas including leading pedagogy, data analysis, human resource and financial management, technical skills, change management and innovation.
Structure of program
You will have access to 12 hours of mentoring over 9 months.
The program allows you to manage when and how you access the support, either face to face, online or via telephone.

- view feedback as an integral part of improving your performance

Fees and financial support
Fully subsidised by the Department of Education for Victorian government school participants.
Application process
Ensure you provide as much detail as you can when answering the questions, as this information is used to assist with the matching process, and ensures you are matched with a suitable mentor.
It is expected you will be allocated a mentor within 2 weeks of submitting your application.
