TEP Alumni regional event highlights management strategies for dysregulated behaviour
Regional educators were recently provided with a great opportunity to attend their local Academy centre and connect with an expert panel discussion focussed on 'Understanding and addressing dysregulated behaviour'.
75 teachers and school leaders attended across the 7 regional centres, making up a third of all participants for the event. The panel discussion provided regional educators with an opportunity to learn about managing challenging behaviours.
Academy TEP Alumni teachers Mak Bulte at Sacred Heart Parish School and Kara Taylor Irymlpe Secondary College hosted the event and panel discussion featuring Dr Russ Fox, Lecturer in applied behaviour analysis at Monash University and Anthony King, School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Coach.
The panel highlighted the characteristics of both disruptive and dysregulated student behaviour and how this affects teachers and students, and the impact this can have on learning.
Participants asked questions of the panel members and learned to use practical, evidence informed management strategies to help drive a more positive classroom climate.
Our 7 regional locations ensure rural and regional teachers and leaders can access high-quality professional development regardless of their location, and is a place where they can come together to share their practical teaching experience while gaining knowledge on topics that benefit the wider regional school community.
