Literacy Pedagogy and Practice
Literacy Pedagogy and Practice draws on evidence-informed pedagogical and curriculum frameworks and research to improve literacy outcomes for students. The program is tailored for primary and secondary teachers.
The program provides participants with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the English 2.0 curriculum (F-10) and builds the capability of teachers and leaders to embed the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0) within their practice.
The program is tailored for primary and secondary audiences and will develop a participant’s knowledge of:
- Victoria’s approach to the teaching of reading
- the use of Systematic Synthetic Phonics (through the Department’s Phonics Plus resources)
- structured literacy approaches
- the ‘Big 6’.
Participants in both the Primary and Secondary programs will build their capability to implement practices that enact explicit and high-impact literacy teaching, whether as an individual participant or part of a small school-based group.
The program provides participants with an opportunity to collaborate with peers and to learn with a network of colleagues through an area-based delivery model.
