Harvard leadership programs suite

As a cornerstone of the Academy’s leadership offer, the Harvard leadership programs suite is a set of programs from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School University.

Internationally renowned for providing best-practice programs in educational leadership, Harvard’s programs support school leaders with the frameworks, skills, and knowledge to effectively lead and drive change improvement in schools to positively impact student outcomes.

The Academy is proud to provide the largest strategic professional learning offering in partnership with Harvard in Victoria, enabling school leaders to increase their leadership growth and careers through a suite of transformative learning experiences.

Audience

Designed for Victorian government school principals, assistant principals, learning specialists, leading teachers, middle leaders and school instructional leaders. Applicants may also come from a Network or Community of Practice.

Programs

Certificate of School Management and Leadership

Harvard Certificate in School Management and Leadership is a multi-course certificate program, bridging the fields of business and education using a case-based mode. The program provides school leaders with frameworks, skills, and knowledge to effectively lead and drive improvement in schools. 

Instructional Leadership Certificate

Influence classroom improvement and pedagogical practices in your school by equipping yourself with the confidence and capabilities to effectively lead instructional learning teams to support improved student achievement. 

The Instructional Leadership Certificate consists of four 6-week online courses designed to build capacity in those who lead or aspire to lead and coach others in an instructional leadership capacity. 

Harvard Data Wise Institute Australia 

Learn a step-by-step process for using a range of data sources to improve instruction and student outcomes in your school or system. Through the program you will cultivate the habits of mind to build a culture that is centred on advancing equity and build internal capacity to lead collaborative inquiry work by asking generative questions, leveraging resources to meet team needs, and attending to team relationships. 

The Principals' Centre in Australia (Sydney)

During the Principals Centre program you will examine your leadership practices through the lens of school culture, equity, social-emotional learning, family and community engagement, and strategy. Develop a leadership strategy informed by relevant school data, and learn how to align resources and initiatives around an evidence-based approach and gain a deeper understanding of the leadership skills needed to cultivate a school culture that prioritises learning for all.

Learning outcomes

The Harvard Suite of Programs encompasses a group of professional learning courses designed to build and enhance your leadership capabilities across a number of domains. Through the suite of programs, you’ll gain knowledge and understanding of:

• leading school change and helping diverse stakeholders to enable better practice and outcomes for students
• identifying existing challenges, incorporating and taking a strategic problem-solving approach to planning and innovation.
• leading people and motivating staff, and building leadership capabilities among individuals, groups, and teams throughout the school.
• developing school systems, supports, and culture that lead to excellent teaching and learning in every classroom, for every student.

Fees and financial support

Fully subsidised by the Department of Education for Victorian government school participants. Participants for Harvard Data Wise Australia program are expected to pay a co-contribution of $500 per person.
