TEP 2024

Teaching Excellence Program teachers reflect on inquiry process

""

27 teaching excellence learning communities were held this week across Academy sites with 412 teachers from our Teaching Excellence Program (TEP).

These sessions enabled our TEP24 teachers to celebrate and reflect on their learnings from the collaborative practitioner inquiries, where they unpacked and responded to a problem of practice derived for their school contexts and interests. This then enabled the teachers to extract key insights to feed into the planning and drafting components of their independent practitioner inquiries, which will be undertaken individually.

The inquiry process explores a range of practice areas relevant to the school context and interest.

Inquiry examples include:

  • using problem-based learning to improve student engagement
  • more meaningful embedding of First Nations' perspectives into classroom teaching
  • using peer feedback to build ownership of students' own learning
  • using sports as a means to build more collaboration.

Some of our incredible teachers shared their insights on this inquiry process:

‘Engaging in the inquiry process has proved how much still resides within my locus of control, and how much change I can make on my own’

‘I’ve learnt patience. I’ve learnt that engaging in inquiry is a long game, and one that takes consistent effort to hone and develop skills for’.
