Teaching Excellence Program 2025 off to a strong start

After an exciting 2-day commencement conference, this year’s TEP25 participants have begun their transformative year of evidence-informed professional learning.
They join over 1,000 TEP alumni already making a difference to improve school and student outcomes across government, Catholic and independent schools in Victoria.

‘What a fantastic start to the TEP program! The first day was filled with inspiring speakers, supportive staff, and passionate educators—truly an energizing experience. It’s incredible how, even on the first day, I’ve already gathered so many valuable ideas to bring into my classroom.'

The Minister for Education the Hon. Ben Carroll MP launched the TEP25 Commencement Conference and welcomed our newest TEP participants.
‘This is also about connecting with one another... creating a great peer network going forward, and making sure that you continue to connect, continue to thrive as teachers. ‘
Minister for Education, The Hon Ben Carroll
Our keynote speakers Professor Andy Hargreaves and Shelley Ware provided expert insights on the profession and the importance of valuing Indigenous culture and perspectives. Shelley Ware shared her Indigenous connection to education through fond memories of her Mum who taught her that ‘you are never too old to educate yourself... and that education is the key.’

Participants engaged in workshops to build connections and explore their teacher identity.
Along their TEP25 journey, they'll gain valuable skills and join a Teaching Excellence Learning Community working to find innovative solutions to problems of practice and learn new strategies to deepen their teaching excellence.

‘I'm most excited about learning new, interesting, and impactful ways to improve students’ learning outcomes. I chose to join the TEP because I believe teaching should be a life-long learning journey. I don't believe I will have ever fully mastered the craft and am always looking for ways to improve outcomes and opportunities for students.’
